Vulpes Libris

A collective of bibliophiles talking about books. Book Fox (vulpes libris): small bibliovorous mammal of overactive imagination and uncommonly large bookshop expenses. Habitat: anywhere the rustle of pages can be heard.

Vulpes Random: Some Review Inspiration

As a reviewing site, Vulpes Libris has often discussed the morality, duties and responsibilities of being a reviewer. So we thought we’d  do some dry and academic research into this subject. I bring you – the Bic Cristal For Her Ball Pen. Boasting an “elegant design – just for her!” with a specially designed “thin barrel to fit a women’s hand”. Read these reviews and weep…

(Instruction for our women readers: click on image above to go to link. We understand that’s a bit too tough and manly for us girlie technophobes to be able to work out for ourselves.)

I’m a bloke and I know how difficult it is to hold those thin pens. I usually use a big paintbrush or a flamethrower (For Him, of course).

I think Vulpes is being a bit sexist here… What about technophobes of the male gender, perhaps they need some instruction too!

But, seriously, you make a very good point, Rosy, about the importance of Vulpes Libris contributors always bearing in mind the morals, duties and responsibilities of reviewing articles. Even in the best of review sites, these important qualities can slip on occasion, so it is good for a contributor to view them almost like a mission statement, whenever he or she sits down to write an article. As is said often, it is very hard to build a reputation, but very easy to destroy one. It is a very important aspect you brought up.

My mum has ordered me one in the hope I can catch a husband. I’m just worried how I’ll be able to lift it with my tiny weak delicate female hands…

It is very funny. I’m wondering if the meaning of self esteem is the same in her case than in mine. It seems unlikely story.

If we’re talking Amazon reviews here, the 50 Shades of Grey ones beat these ones well into a “cocked hat” (pardon the pun)!

I laughed all the way through the reviews, so many really clever comments.
