I read too much, buy more books than I can possibly read, and write literaryish historical fiction. I also spend more time thinking about fictional or long-dead people than any sane person should.
My idea of a Perfect Book would be a cross between Austen, Woolf, Burney, Mansfield, Waugh, Nabokov and Shakespeare. Well, that’s the theory, anyway: in practice any genre or subject matter can and does intrigue me, though I’m especially interested in the 18th and 19th centuries, dogs, and opera. (If you know of a novel about a 19th-century opera singer lost in the woods in snowy weather, only to be rescued by a brave dog, please let me know. That would be another of my Perfect Books.)
I live in Finland, and I love trees - lots and lots of trees - and cold, snowy winters more than anything else. This combined love of green things and cold climates has given me a severe case of Environmental Angst in the past few years.
I’m the admin in these parts, so if you you’re particularly annoyed by anything (such as the font choices: an ever-controversial subject), you can blame me.
