
Kirsty’s academic specialism is the early writings of Lev Trotsky. She has a BA in Modern and Mediaeval Languages and an MPhil in Modern European History from Cambridge University. She is now undertaking her PhD at Queen’s University, Belfast.
She published an article, based on her MPhil research and entitled Reading Trotsky, Writing Bronstein, in the peer-reviewed journal Revolutionary Russia (Vol. 19/1). She is currently preparing translations of some of Trotsky’s articles for the legal Marxist publication The Eastern Review during his first exile in Siberia.
Kirsty writes about a wide variety of topics for VL, including Russian literature and history, socialist theory and literature and the Cuban Revolution.
