There is no theme this week, absolutely zero connective tissue linking together the reviews. We have war, sea, veterinarians in Africa and a procrastinating writer meeting the people that advertise their wares in the PennySaver.
Monday: Nikki reviews her first read of a classic war novel, Erich Remarque’s All Quiet on the Western Front.
Wednesday: Lisa doesn’t know what to make of Miranda July’s It Chooses You and veers wildly between thinking it’s wonderful and horrid.
Thursday: Moira indulges her passion for Jan Pienkowski with the new edition of Joan Aiken’s The Kingdom Under the Sea.
Friday: Jackie follows along with Dr. Roy Aronson in Tales of an African Vet.
Picture of the chunky zebra, courtesy of my terrible camera.

The zebra in the foreground looks as if she might be pregnant. But then the other one looks a bit chunky too,as you say. Could they both be pregnant?
Possibly, or maybe it is just “good living” as my vet pointed out to me when i enquired about my cat’s low-hanging belly…
That was a nice way for the vet to put it, not insulting to kitty ears & all.
