Good grief. The Vulpes year seems to have run its course. However did that happen? I mean, I’ve only just got the hang of writing ‘2011’ on cheques (yes, I still write cheques, reactionary curmudgeon that I am …) and here I am suddenly facing the whole new challenge of ‘2012’.
It’s been a vintage year for us too, in which we reviewed over 150 books, welcomed 100+ new subscribers, spoke to some fascinating and controversial people and (still a matter of complete amazement to us) clocked up our one millionth page view back at the end of November.
None of it, of course, would be possible – or indeed have much purpose – without you, our readers and friends. So, thank you from all of us to all of you: to those who read and comment and to those who just read and keep their own counsel. We value you all and are delighted and (occasionally) a little taken aback that so many come back so often to read our musings.
We’re taking a long break over Christmas and will reconvene on January the 8th. In the pipeline for the New Year we have the new Oxford University Press edition of M R James’ ghost stories, a debut book review from a previous celebrity guest, Jane Juska’s A Round-Heeled Woman/Unaccompanied Women and Nahmias and Murray’s Unfinished Spaces.
However, you haven’t QUITE seen the last of us in 2011: we’ve got a lovely, festive review lined up for Christmas Eve – so make sure you rejoin us then for our final appearance of the year.

That is a splendid picture of Stonehenge!
