It’s Saturday! And I have a day off at last. In fact, I bet loads of you have days off today, so I expect, like me, you have a ton of things to do. This review is therefore going to be short and sweet and to the point so we can all get out there and do things.
You may be aware of how much of a Louise Rennison fan I am (if not you can find out HERE). I was devastated when her last series about Georgia Nicholson ended at book ten however, I could not contain my excitement when I discovered that there was a brand new series in the pipeline.
Withering Tights is the misadventures of yet another incredibly lovable character called Tallulah Casey who sends herself off to a Performing Arts College in Yorkshire. Tallulah is Georgia Nicholson’s cousin and to my delight, there are certainly a number of family traits evident in the way Tallulah behaves. She is long and gangly and obsessed with her knees which she says are four feet off the ground and uncontrollable. She says the wrong things – often, is a little bit boy daft and she fails miserably at Performing Arts… oh how much do I love Lullah?
Withering Tights is chock full of yet more funny, fascinating and downright weird characters who are all a joy to read about. Not only the friends she makes at Dother Hall, but the eccentric teachers, the boys at the school for bad boys down the road (how much fun is that!?!) and the local Yorkshire folk… there are SO many to love! Tallulah’s antics at College are just hilarious as she finds out she’s not really a natural on the stage…. but by the end, she has found one or two things she’s good at.
I was very worried when I first picked up Withering Tights, you’re never quite sure if a new series by an author you love is going to live up to your expectations. I shouldn’t have worried. This is not Georgia…but I know I’m going to love Tallulah just as much.
I said this was going to be brief. It is. Now you can get out there, go Saturday shopping to your nearest bookshop… and when you get there, you know what to buy!

This sounds like a good one for any age, especially someone who likes theatre. I like the idea of humor & eccentric characters and you had a clever way of wrapping things up, too.
First of all, that title is just brilliant. I love it! This sounds like a fun read and as I was once a drama student myself, the performing arts angle is right up my alley!
heyy,
Loved your review. I am almost finished this fab book and i was wondering if you had any idea of when the second one comes out.
I haven’t even finished reading it and I’m thinking about the next one!
I recommend it to anyone who’s in for a laugh.
Thanx
